VINTAGE KANTHA
Our beloved Vintage Kantha quilts are one-of-a-kind treasures. These hand-block printed quilts belong to the region of Bagru in Rajasthan. Kantha is a centuries-old tradition of stitching patchwork cloth from old rags or old sarees. It is a tradition often practised by the women of rural India. Due to its age and the handmade nature of these quilts, wearing & tearing and occasional patching are expected and are all part of the charm of this beautiful recycled textile.
We recommend dry cleaning as a first option, alternatively, they can also be gently hand washed separately in cold water with a mild/natural detergent. Since all dyes used are natural, some running of colour is expected. Line dry in the shade out of direct sunlight to avoid fading. We do not recommend machine washing or tumble drying. Gentle warm iron if needed taking care not to pull or catch the threads.
SUZANI
Although not vintage, our Suzanis are handmade from start to finish in India. These one-of-a-kind, striking, eye-catching treasures are hand embroidered by a group of local women in Jaipur, India meaning that each Suzani inherits a design flair unique to its artist. The cotton threads are coloured using natural dyes embroidered on a cotton backing and should be treated with love.
